Latin Resources

Timeline: 2023 - Present

Latin Resources Limited (Latin) is currently exploring the viability of a mining and processing operation at their Salinas Lithium Project in Brazil. The Project is located in the pro-mining district of Minas Gerais, where Latin has defined a JORC Measured / Indicated / Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate of 63.5Mt @ 1.3% Li2O. It is proposed that mined ore be processed through a new and standalone processing facility at an initial throughput rate of 1.5Mtpa to produce high quality spodumene concentrates via Dense Media Separation (DMS) and gravity separation techniques for sale to lithium chemical conversion offtake partners overseas. The design will allow future potential to expand to 3.6Mtpa as well as to include additional processing stages such as fines flotation.
MinSol was engaged by Latin as it’s principal mineral processing advisor and engineer to progress the projects metallurgical test work and Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) and has now been requested to collaborate in the delivery of the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), where MinSol is responsible for metallurgical testwork management, process engineering, mechanical equipment sizing/specification and development of conceptual plant layout/arrangements for the processing facilities.

Talison Lithium

Timeline: 2008 - Present

Talison lithium Pty Ltd (Talison) owns and operates a lithium mining and processing facility in Greenbushes, which is located approximately 85km southeast of Bunbury in Western Australia, where they produce a number of lithium products for chemical and industrial applications.
MinSol Engineering has played an integral role in the historical design, implementation, commissioning and optimisation of Chemical Grade Plants 1 & 2. In addition to this, MinSol's team have also been involved in the commissioning of the Tailings Retreatment Plant.
MinSol continues to provide ongoing support for greenfield and brownfield projects.

Lynas Rare Earth - Kalgoorlie Facility

Timeline: 2020 - Present

Lynas Rare Earth is a world-class rare-earth element producer, with mining and processing operations at their Mt Weld Mine and refining capabilities at their Malaysian operations.
MinSol were responsible for delivering 2 of the 3 major design packages for the hydrometallurgical sections of their new Kalgoorlie rare earth refinery. This work was completed over a 12-month period in close collaboration with Lynas’ key technical personnel and extended to construction support.

Iluka - Eneabba

Timeline: 2021 - 2023

Eneabba is the highest grade rare earths operation globally. Currently, it consists of Iluka’s stockpile of the rare earth-bearing minerals monazite and xenotime, as well as the company’s phase one two plants, which focus on screening and concentrating, respectively. Phase three will expand on the existing operation to create an important downstream infrastructure asset, which encompasses roasting, leaching, purification, solvent extraction and product finishing.
MinSol were responsible for the design and commissioning.

Global Lithium - Manna SOC Project

Timeline: 2021 - Present

Global Lithium is an emerging Lithium Producer proposing to develop their flagship Manna Lithium Project. MinSol were engaged to undertake a detailed Pre-Feasibility Study for a fast-tracked spodumene ore concentrate (SOC) option for the Manna Lithium Project.

The operation would operate for 12-18 months prior to implementation of the wet processing facility and employ a two-stage crushing and ore sorting circuit to produce an upgraded product for export and sale. Included in the study was a 100-man camp, site non process facilities and a spur on the Trans-Australian Rail Line.

Tormin Mineral Sands

Timeline: 2019 - 2021

Tormin is a world class alluvial beach deposit in South Africa, rich in valuable heavy minerals including zircon, rutile, garnet and ilmenite. MinSol Engineering have a long standing relationship with MSR, having been involved in the test work, design and implementation for establishment of the processing operation in 2014, as well as ongoing operational support.

Dundas Ilmenite Project

Timeline: 2021 - 2023

Dundas is a high-grade alluvial ilmenite project, located on the northern coastal shores of Greenland. Following exploration, and large scaling piloting, Bluejay initiated a detailed and integrated Pre-Feasibility for the Project, of which MinSol were responsible for the development of the mine feed and wet processing plant.
The study considered numerous location and climate challenges and included detailed constructability and logistics investigations with multiple site visits and engagement with European fabricators.

Master Builders - Abernethy Road

Timeline: 2023 - Present

With production and distribution facilities in every state, MBS is Australia’s largest producer of chemicals and additives such as concrete curing accelerants for the construction industry.
MinSol are responsible for all multi-disciplinary engineering and design for a new chemical storage, batching and dispatch facility in Perth to replace their redundant toll treat arrangement with other West Australian operators. The facility conforms to strict operating and environmental requirements and requires minimal operations personnel to maintain MBS’s competitive advantage.

BCI - Mardie Salt Project

Timeline: 2021 - 2022

Mardie Salt is a large-scale project proposed for the Pilbara region of Western Australia. BCI are not only aiming to be Australia’s largest producer of high-quality halite (4.25 Mtpa NaCl) for sale into the Chlor-Alkali industry but also a leading producer of sulphate of potash, a critical and supply deficit input into the worlds agricultural industries.

MinSol collaborated with head contractor Kerman Contracting on the ECI to manage the process and engineering development of the salt purification process and provided input elsewhere into the wider process and non-process infrastructure across site.

Norton GF - Binduli North Heap Leach Project

Timeline: 2020 - 2021

The Binduli North Project is a 5Mtpa Heap Leach gold project based in the Goldfields area of Western Australia. Ore mined from new and historical pits through a two-stage crushing circuit with High Pressure Grinding Roll (HPGR) to be agglomerated and conveyed and stacked utilising a series of grass-hopper conveyors on the Heap Leach pad. Following leaching the pregnant liquor undergoes carbon in column (CIC) absorption. The loaded carbon is then transferred to an elution circuit for stripping, followed by electrowinning and smelting in an on-site gold room.
The project was broken into discrete engineering and procurement packages with a focus on modular plant design to maximise offsite construction and allow Factory Acceptance Testing prior to site delivery where possible. MinSol provided project management and engineering management services during the detailed design and procurement phases of the project, and worked closely with Norton’s Senior Management team to provide key strategies for the subsequent site implementation phase.
